(I’m processing some stuff today… so bear with me)

I also grew up in a house where my dad told me I had to earn his respect.

I was never clear why a parent would make their *child* earn their respect…

But. I tried anyway.

Except… how do you do this when earning respect is predicated on perfectly meeting some set of criteria that you are never told and changes without warning?
