i dream of being possible

on nonbinary history

I still can”t quite process that nonbinary history thing

like. just soooo many fucking problems with it.

i swear, the person is like, 80% chance, white. they sound like some grad student looking to write a thesis. or just straight out make money from these stories.

how do you make a call for oral history via a textual medium without any clear concept of how you”ll preserve the history as is. how do you make a call about nonbinary history without clearly situating yourself?

how can you even begin to talk about nonbinary ‘history” without even a fucking smidgen of attention paid to the vast amount of transmisogynist and colonial violence that was necessary to even arrive at this place where we can talk about ‘nonbinary” in some bland, generic, ‘universal” fashion?

how do you get to this place of asking for people”s stories without even acknowledging how and why there is so much missing or unknown history? about the violent genocide and colonial processes hundreds of years in the making, entirely devoted to erase indigenous gender systems and the people who embody those genders?

how can you ask for ‘history” when you clearly have zero grasp and concept of history?

how can all of this be true

AND YOU STILL ASK FOR PEOPLE TO TELL STORIES THAT AREN”T THEIRS????
