it boggles my mind

how many people seem to not get that one of the operations of power and oppression is erasing its tracks just enough so that the people benefiting don’t have to be aware of their privilege.

that is seriously one of the major aspects of privilege: the privilege not to know (to be ignorant)

because as far as you’re concerned, everything is working exactly as it should

there is nothing wrong.

(and, note, the ‘erasing’ of the tracks is often just the normalization of oppression such that these things are happening in plain sight, but people think it is okay)
